Ticul city

This city is located in one of the very few areas in the Yucatan Peninsula where clay can be found; Its red clay ceramics are famous all over the Peninsula and plenty of pottery shops can be found in the city. The potters are grouped in a cooperative called "Arte Maya".

People from Ticul is very active and the shod industry has grown in form of small factories for the last decades. Its leather shoes are high quality and famous all over the Peninsula. You may easily find shoes from Ticul at any of the Merida markets. They are excelent craftsmen and now produce some other type of arts and crafts.

There's a pottery center in the main plaza where a great variety of plantpots, flowerpots and zoomorphic objects are made. They mainly produce copies of stelas, sculptures, glyphos, and many other pieces of the prehispanic art.

A shod fair is held every year from September 23th. to the 25th. Dances, dairies, bullfights, agricultural, arts & crafts, commercial and industrial expositions are organized.

Templo de San Antonio Finished in 1624, the Templo de San Antonio is also one of its main attractions. Its main entrance is an arch of half point, with pairs of columns on both sides, the top of the arch has niches with sculptures and reliefs. It also has 2 bullrushes of 3 church towers and in the middle, a finishing with mouldings.
