One of the Yucatan most important and virgin nature reserves, El Palmar protects a fascinating variety of flora and fauna, forming the perfect ecotourism destination. You can access El Palmar on a dirt road along the coastline that could come from Sisal or from Celestun, the called "camino viejo a Sisal", due that no pavimented road neither any village exists between, El Palmar is considered the best conservated reserve of the state. Here you can find ample vegetation of mangroves, low forest, coastal dunes inhabited by vast numbers of birds, mammals and reptiles.Another attraction is the enormous lighthouse, considered the tallest in the state.
