Parroquia de San Francisco de Asís

This village was founded in the prehispanic times by the Mayan group Xiú after they abandoned the city-state of Maní. The name of it means "place of the ramón tree, tobacco and honey".
The Parroquia de San francisco de Asís was started in 1581 and finished in 1699 according to the inscription found in its fecade. Its portico with half point arch, boarded jambs, and front with Franciscan shield; the choir window has a protuberant cornice with crests, a series of reliefs like the sun, moon, a cross and some animal figures on top; Stands out in its interior the main altarpiece with solomonic columns niche and sculpture.

Orange vendors in the market place The traditional Feria de la Naranja (Orange fair) is held every year from the 10th. to the 16th. of August with popular parties, mechanical games, agricultural exposition and bull fights.
