Kabah Locateted at about 37 Km. from Uxmal, this is the second biggest religious center of the Puuc style. At its peak stage (800 a.d.), Kabah had a determinant role in the development of the Puuc region. It is communicated with Uxmal with a "Sac-bé" (typical mayan path) of 18 Km. that starts at the beautifull Arch of Kabah. Many water cisterns "chultunes" can be find in this area for rain water collection as there was no nearby water source; this is considered the main reason of the many God Chaac representations found in the Puuc region, the mayas used to worship Chaac asking for enough rain.
The most impressive building is the Codz pop, also known as the Large Masks Palace , this building is built onto a 5 meters high large platform; it has 250 masks of God Chaac, each of them elaborated with 30 stones, aforementioned masks are in the facade giving the building an impressive aspect. The East facade presents beautiful mosaics and various statues of more than 2 meters high representing a character with a trouser fly, necklace, a head adorn and a carved crest.
