Its name means "place of seeds". This is the place where a copy of the Sacred book of the Chilam Balam, considered by many the Mayan Bible, was found.Templo de la Purisima Concepcion.- Built in the XVI century and dedicated to the Purest Conception shelters various beautiful images. A rectangular fecade shows battlements in both sides as crests. It is a clear sample of the religious battlemented medieval architecture brought to Yucatan by the first Spaniards. Its typical bullrush is cut in a series of steps and has battlements on each extreme. Inside the temple a special Christ made of black wood is found.
Feast of the Santo Cristo de la Transfiguracion also known as "El Seņor de Esquipulas" is held from April/28 to May/5 every year. Bullfights, dairies, regional dances, mechanical games, fireworks and tianguis are held.
